Maria Tirta

I obtained my medical degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2020 and subsequently completed one year of clinical training as a medical resident in the Pediatric Orthopedics Department in Athens, Greece. Early in my clinical experience, I became committed to pediatric orthopedics, a field that uniquely combines clinical decision-making with long-term impact on children’s quality of life.

In parallel with my clinical training, I completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Research Methodology in biomedical sciences, clinical practice, and public health.

Currently, my PhD project, CROSS-Physis,  focuses on investigating the long-term effects of growth plate violation on both longitudinal and volumetric bone growth using stainless steel and titanium alloy intramedullary nails. My broader research interests include DDH and associated risk factors, and epiphysiodesis for the treatment of leg-length discrepancy. Scoping reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses are central to my approach to generating high-quality, evidence-based knowledge.
